It’s been a few years and pets, kids, clutter, scratches, scuffs, and stains have infiltrated your home. It’s not the same home you once fell in love with, but it can be. This Valentine’s Day, bring date night back home to the one place you truly love. We have a few ideas to help you fall head over heels for your home all over again.

Paint:

The simplest way to immediately change the space is to paint! You don't even need to go for a traditional full-room paint job. Pick a wall and make it the accent piece, paint the trim around your floors and ceiling, or choose a closet door with a fun color or pattern. It doesn’t have to be drastic but if you’ve been thinking about doing it, here is your sign!

Color Scheme:

Change with the seasons, and make it cohesive. Whether you prefer neutral, bold, muted, or pastel colors, you can always bring a new color scheme to any room to enhance your mood. If you don’t already have a cohesive color scheme, an easy way to make a home feel more put together is to build one. Add new colors through throw pillows, rugs, wall decor, lights, or curtains. If you want to liven the space up, swap your muted colors for a vibrant version, or try out multiple shades of the same accent color to create contrast.

Accent pieces:

Not everyone has the budget to replace their furniture, and we aren’t asking you to. At least not all of it. Consider your accent pieces like lamps, wall decor, rugs, end tables, ceiling fans, etc. Just a few small changes with new patterns or bolder shapes can bring a whole new atmosphere to your home. Don’t forget about your drapes! Swap your short curtains for floor length to transform the height of any room.

Rearrange:

The easiest and most budget-friendly way to make a room feel brand new is to rearrange it! Make a date night out of it! You may think your furniture with the space you have limits you to certain layouts but it doesn’t. Think outside of the box. Move furniture away from the walls. Change the layout to sit in a different direction. Create a small space that is slightly disconnected from the rest to make it multifunctional.

Loving where you live can impact how you live. A bright and homey space rather than a cramped dysfunctional space can make all the difference when it's time to relax and unwind. So if you've been wanting to paint the wall green, do it! If you want to add bright colors, do it! It's time to love your home again!
