Everyone knows traveling for the holidays is exhausting but no one talks about the stress of hosting! Whether you’re only hosting dinner or trying to find enough beds for the whole family, the work never ends! We’ve got a few house hacks to keep your home holiday host ready, all year round!

Food is a must during the holiday season and with food comes hungry bellies to fill. As a host you’re trying to make sure everyone has food, but also that you can enjoy it together! Making space for everyone at the table can be difficult and with big families it may be next to impossible but we have a few ideas to make it easier. For those fortunate enough to have the space for a large dining table, it’s not only a functional option for guests but adds a welcoming and warm atmosphere to any home! If you’re like most and don’t have the space to keep a large dining table set all year around, a valuable alternative is a leaf table. A leaf table allows you to expand your table space at any time but grants you the flexibility of extra space when you don’t have company! Hopefully, now no one gets banished to the kid's table!

If you have family and friends who plan on staying with you, you might be getting worried about finding sleeping accommodations for everyone. Thankfully we have a few solutions that won't sacrifice any of your living space throughout the year! As the host house whose family travels to stay with you every year, investing in a pullout sofa will become your saving grace. Fortunately, these days pullout sofas come in all colors, sizes, and styles so you’ll never need to sacrifice your personal design touch. Keeping on theme, another fabulous option is a trundle bed which again provides extra sleeping space without sacrificing everyday living space! We can’t forget about the children, who make the holiday magic feel real for all of us. If your little ones are frequent flyers at your house you may go with something more traditional like bunk beds which will still save space but they still have a permanent home with you! We know bunk beds take up a bit of floor space and if you don’t have it to sacrifice, a simple alternative is loft beds. You can keep all your floor space throughout the year and still have the extra beds when it's needed!

With beds comes blankets! We all know the holiday season is bitter, at least weather-wise, and with more bodies in the house, you need more blankets! Throw blankets make excellent decor pieces, but luckily they aren’t useless so having a few extra around the house will be beneficial for everyone. The same applies to extra bedding like comforters and quilts, while they are not as decorative as throws, they are a necessity for hosting family over the holidays!

We know your hosts have plenty else to deal with but we hope these additions might make it easier for you come the holiday season and help you bring the family that much closer!
